SUMMARY

The Bilingual Immigration Legal Services (ILS) program provides immigration legal services and fingerprinting services to immigrants and refugees in the Rocky Mountain region. The Safe Release Support Finger Print Specialist overseas the overall function of the Safe Release Support program and provides immigration legal consultations and direct representation on cases derived from consultations, referrals, or as assigned.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Acts as liaison to Lutheran Immigration and Refugee Service (LIRS) regarding day-to-day service provision of the Safe Release Support (SRS) program.
  • Coordinates with sponsors, shelters, and LIRS to schedule fingerprint appointments for sponsors.
  • Maintains regular and timely communication with ILS team around any issues of concern during the appointment with a sponsor. Provides accurate data to ensure timely completion of reports and informs supervisor about any issues related to the sponsors or equipment. Reports patterns of problems or non-compliance.
  • Completes and timely submits monthly SRS audit reports to LIRS.
  • Enters sponsors' information accurately into the fingerprint database, conducts the digital fingerprints, and submits the completed information electronically.
  • Counsels sponsors with completion of family reunification packets and other related forms.
  • Works with family members to identify education, medical, and social needs of minors as required under the Safe Release Support program. Additional sponsor readiness risk and safety assessment counseling and referrals are made to potential sponsors to better prepare them to care for an unaccompanied minor.
  • Maintains the Digital Fingerprint Machine through proper care and reporting of any technical issues.
  • Complies with the "Rules of Behavior for the Health and Human Services (HHS) Digital Fingerprinting System" and the "Safe Release Support Program Manual".
  • Conducts various administrative tasks.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must be bilingual and able to read, write, and speak fluently in both Spanish and English.
  • Ability to work with foreign nationals and possess cross-cultural sensitivity.
  • Must work well independently, keep precise notes, and interact well with clients.
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point and scanning and faxing.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, organizational, and problem solving skills
  • Well-organized with the proven ability to prioritize duties and manage time effectively.
  • Maintains confidentiality at all times.
  • Experience as a partially Department of Justice (DOJ) accredited representative preferred.
  • Completes staff development/professional training requirements as specified in LFS handbook and as related to this position.
  • Accurately represents the agency when attending community fundraisers, exhibits, meetings, etc.
  • Must have and maintain a valid driver's license and provide proof of auto liability insurance at the level of $100,000/300,000/100,000.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE


High school diploma required. Must have a minimum of two years full-time related experience.

Preferred Education/Experience: Associates degree (A.A.) or paralegal certificate or at least three years of relevant work experience. Combination of work experience and training received accepted.


SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
