SUMMARY

The ECE Program Navigator will provide coordination and support to program participants entering pre-apprenticeship or apprenticeship phase of the ECE certification and training program. This will include coordinating and communicating with partners such as community colleges, workforce centers, English as a Second Language (ESL) providers, and other providers of professional development services; and checking in with program participants regularly regarding all coursework, professional development, and employment. Bilingual language skills in Arabic or Dari required.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Communicate with the Pre-Apprenticeship/Apprenticeship candidates who are in the Child Development Associate (CDA) program to ensure they are completing their portfolios and preparing for CDA certification exam.
  • Support program participants with the completion of Colorado Childcare Assistance Program (CCAP) application and following up on application approval, including supporting participants in submission of missing documentation or information.
  • Help program participants to identify suitable ESL providers; assist program participants with enrollment and ensure the candidates' understanding of their schedule and class expectations.
  • Provide employment navigation support to program participants. This will include developing relationships with potential ECE employers, assisting participants in applying for jobs, following up with employers, interview preparation, and resume/cover letter creation.
  • Supporting program participants who are working with volunteer mentors to ensure that they are meeting consistently and that communication channels are open. Supports and coordinates with volunteer(s) who is acting as mentor coordinator.
  • Follow up with participants who were not able to complete apprenticeship phase with continued support to re-enter apprenticeship and eventually secure employment.
  • Maintain regular communication with ECE team members.
  • Works with interpreters/cultural coordinators as needed.
  • Complies with all federal, state, county, local and Lutheran Family Services Rocky Mountains contracts.
  • Demonstrates an organized and pro-active approach to services to clients, program reporting and communication to all agency staff.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Cross cultural sensitivity and knowledge with the ability and desire to work with people of other cultures, some of whom will be limited English speakers.
  • Written communication skills, ability to write reports and to make presentations.
  • Functional fluency in one or more foreign languages helpful. Desired languages include: Arabic, Burmese, Dari, Pashtu, and Swahili.
  • Detail oriented, extensive documentation skills, organized and able to work in a multi-tasked environment.
  • Skills in problem solving, negotiations, decision making and mediating conflict.
  • Maintains punctuality for work, appointments and report dates.
  • Ability to self-start but also works well in a team setting. Can collaborate effectively with others.
  • Computer skills in Microsoft applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Must have and maintain a valid driver's license and provide proof of auto liability insurance at the level of 100,000/300,000/100,000.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High School diploma or equivalent required. Experience in community engagement and human services helpful.
